What do you know about the dead sea?

As the name goes, the dead sea is literally dead! and this is due to the fact that - though a sea, but it is not in communication with any other body of waters apart from the Jordan River which brings in water into the sea but since there is no outlet, and since nature abhors a vacuum, the water in the sea can only communicate with the external environment by way of evaporation.

This evaporation reduces the water content in the sea while leaving the salt content in very high concentration. Its salt concentration is a staggering 33.7%, 8.6 times saltier than ocean water, which is only about 3.5% salt.

And because of the high salt content of the dead sea, no life can survive there - not animals, not plants, not fishes, not birds - not anything that takes in oxygen and gives out carbon dioxide.

The stones at the water's edge encrusted in salt are a good clue in that department. As a result, the Sea is famous for its body buoyancy properties, as people who take an exploratory dip generally find themselves riding high on its waters - instead of swimming, they float!

The Dead Sea is also the lowest point on earth, and getting lower every year, as water that would ordinarily fill it by flowing in from the Jordan River has been diverted to quench the thirst of Israel, Jordan, and Palestine.

That said, but the import of this message is to let you know and understand that the dead sea is in this way because it continually receives (from the River Jordan) but does not give out.

Applying that to our humanity, we could describe that kind of relationship as parasitic - a situation where one continually receives or takes from another but is unwilling to give or reciprocate.

It is stated that giving moves the Hands of the Creator and the Good Book also states that "God loves a cheerful giver".

Yes, even though Musicians have sang that both the hands that give and the ones that receive are blessed but the Good Book says that "it is more blessed to give than to receive" and it also says that "he who waters shall be watered too"

A quote from Francis of Assisi said, “It’s through giving that we receive.”

Are you in  a relationship where-in all you do is to take and not give back?

This is a clarion call to you this day to change that selfish parasitic habit for the better.

Our lives will be maximized if we choose to be a giver of life — in our words and in our deeds.

I do not know if there is anyone on this Planet who has not experienced anger, sadness, disappointment, betrayal, blackmail and frustration?.

If improperly managed, these negative emotions and actions can break a relationship, ruin a project, turn one into a hermit crab and even take a person's life.

I've learnt an emotion management skill that I find very effective.

I'll share with you today.

It is my Emotions Compartmentalization Technique

Just imagine a 7 room mansion with 7 different occupants and each occupant being so different from the others?

Imagine you can separate your feelings into different rooms.

The skill is to simply keep different emotion in different room and never mix different emotions in one room.

For example, I may be very frustrated with work, but once I am not on the issue, that room is closed.

When I work on other project or talk to other people, my emotion will be neutral.

Let's say you have Parents, each Parent has his or her own weakness which makes you angry, you do not transfer the anger of one Parent to the other

Let's say you have 2 kids. When one kid makes you angry, you do not transfer the aggression of that anger to the other kid who is innocent.

Every room starts with a neutral emotion.

I'm not saying you should suppress your emotion. In fact, it's bad to suppress your emotion.

Don't suppress. Let it out, but let it out fast.

I practice the 5 minute rule.

That means I will not hold on to a negative emotion for more than 5 minutes.

Well, I didn't really time it, but once I have let out my emotion, I'm done.

I'll simply keep it in the room and close it.

Just remember, your emotion ends with the event - period. 

Over the years, I've learnt to switch my emotion real fast.

Most important of all, I've learnt not to bring the emotion from one room to another room.

This skill has helped me to overcome the many betrayals I have suffered in the hands of my relatives and close friends and the many business and investment failures, I have experienced. 

It has been instrumental in keeping my mindset positive.

If you are in a "for benefit relationship" it is important that you and your "second self" learn this skill. It would help tide you over dangerous relationship storms; so that when you quarrel and argue and even fight, you can learn to put that into the room it belongs and smile again at each other while toasting one another.

My "Emotions Compartmentalization Technique" is not an end by itself, it is rather a means to an end.

Now, that is  *the Truth, the WHOLE Truth and nothing but the Truth*

I have lived long enough to understand that everything in life is not about me but if it directly concerns me, then it is about me and no one else.

I am surprised at how people take things personally that in no way would contribute to their good health or their wealth.

Just yesterday, I read a post made by a virtual friend of mine on his timeline concerning the on-going conventions of the Republican and Democratic Parties in the US, and how he was going all strong for DD calling him all manner of praise names and denouncing JB for being this and being that.

I made what I thought was an innocent comment  to the effect that - "just as a coin has two faces, every story, always has two narratives and for anyone to be a good judge, he should be open to listen to both narratives"

And it was as if I had accidentally opened up the bee hive.

The guy descended on my comment as if we were sworn enemies. He made so many unpalatable remarks about the comment and the commenter (that is me).

I could literally feel the venom in his words.

I was naturally shocked because nothing in my comment gave away my position on the contests in the US because candidly I have none and even if I had, I am neither a voter nor a campaign strategist for any of the Candidates.

I was going to react to his frustration loaded remark on my comment but suddenly I found myself cooling off because I remembered that i do not sweat the small stuff.

That remark on my comment though referred to me directly but it was not really about me, it was about the poster's trajectory, his own reality, and so long as he has that mindset that someone is God sent to the US to make a difference, there's nothing I can do about it.

If you are in Nigeria and you are sweating profusely and foaming saliva in the mouth over discussions about elections that would happen in the US where you are neither a resident nor would be voting, you need to take my 2nd Mind Course.

That lockdown imposed on the country as a way of checking the transmission of the very dangerous corona virus was actually a leveler.

It did not matter whether one was a CEO and the other a labourer;

It did not matter whether one had a fleet of exotic cars and the other had just a legedez benz;

It did not matter whether one had a reinforced chest of solid gold and the other had no money to his name;

It did not matter whether one had a closet of the choicest raiment and garments and the other had just one shirt and trouser;

It did not matter whether one lived in a Hill - top executive mansion and the other lived in a hut in one remote village;

It also did not matter whether one was married and the other single;

But by one singular pronouncement by those in Governance and all men were subjected to the same kind of treatment - no movement for a period of time.

The exotic cars could not be driven, the exotic jets could not be flown, the shining garments could not be worn, no parties were thrown to display opulence, and all men simply obeyed the proclamation.

And that brought me to remember what has already been concluded even before the earth was brought into shape - that ALL MEN WERE CREATED EQUAL.

The story is told of two Monks in Ancient Tiberia who were engaged in their usual long walk to unwind.

They came to a shallow stream and needed to cross it to continue their walk.

Right there they met a known prostitute in town who also needed to cross the stream because she had an appointment on the other side but she was fearful that she might get carried away by the stream and so she stood there looking at the water as it rolled by and fretting.

When she saw the Monks, she heaved a sigh of relief and approached them asking for help; all she wanted was for them to hold her hands so that she would cross with them but the older Monk offered to carry her on his back. She quickly jumped at the offer and immediately mounted on his back. They successfully navigated the stream and soon enough were on the other side.

When he dropped her, she breathed a wheezy thank you and moved on.

The older Monk observed to himself though that the younger Monk said nothing all through the crossing of the stream, and as they made progress on their walk.

Eventually after more than 2 hours of walking, they decided to go back to the Monastery.

And as soon as they reached the steep staircase that led to the Monastery, the younger Monk breathed out his confusion and asked his Senior Monk

How could you have done that kind of thing, being fully conscious of the fact that as Monks we are not allowed to touch women?

The older Monk looked as his Junior Colleague and told him - I put her down  more than 5 hours ago, why are you still carrying her?

Don't let anyone rent a Real Estate in your Brain.

Whatever any man does is his business and even if you have observed it, it is not your business to fret and enter into the HOUSE OF THOUGHTS over another's actions.

Now, that is  the Truth, the WHOLE Truth and nothing but the Truth

Education is a tool to liberate mankind and take him out of the brink of illiteracy and for this, it is quite commendable and recommended.

 

It is also a tool for a certificate to enable individuals pick up jobs with either Government Establishments or the Organized Private Sector.

 

However, it has become alarming to note that as soon as anyone picks a job especially with the Government Sector, they relax and stop thinking for themselves, allowing themselves to be blackmailed into keeping just that job and being solely dependent on the salary that comes there-from.

 

Not only is this attitude inimical to the wealth creation ability of every individual be he in employment or not, but it is very limiting to what a man can do with the time on his hands because it confines him to the comfort zone where life is lived by managing and not by thriving.

 

It has therefore become very necessary at this point in time to send out this clarion call to all who care to listen, that the best time to start a side-line business is NOW.

 

And if you are working a job with the hope of retiring from there at the appropriate time, remember that your children will not inherit your job, they will not inherit your certificates, they will not inherit your medals and other plaques and shields you earned in your life's journey, they can only inherit a business which you have built along the way.

 

And to the mind that believes, nothing shall by any means be impossible.

 

To work full time and still create a successful business is possible.

As a growing up child, my Father taught me that "no matter what circumstances I find myself, I must learn how to smile through them"

I internalized that teaching amongst the so many others he taught me in his early morning conference with his children as he used to call those meetings.

And that teaching has helped me tide over so many challenges and situations that ordinarily would have sent many a man to the Psychiatrist.

It played out mostly when I was occupying the various positions I occupied in the body of Doctors especially during my tenure as the President of the Association of Resident Doctors of the Federal Capital Territory Abuja.

One of the big bosses of those days, who was not very comfortable with my activities as President (no boss ever is) decided to make my life miserable. He would call a meeting of Senior Doctors and invite me and in their midst he would lambaste me and accuse me of carrying out nefarious activities inimical to his Administration and always threatened to sack me but instead of me wearing a sad and moronic face, I would always have a smile on my face. Whenever he observed that he would go into a frenzy of calling me names and drawing attention of those in the meeting to the fact that I was not even remorseful of my actions instead I was smiling (remember a smile is different from a laugh) and the people would be aghast at seeing me smiling instead of shedding tears. I was later to learn from one of his trusted aides that he felt that my smiling while he was threatening me was both condescending and patronizing.

A smile in times of stress is not an indication that the external milieu is okay but it is an indication that the internal milieu is resting on a Strong Foundation.

So, in all these years, I have learnt the following lessons

When you are wronged and you smile calmly, it is a sign of generosity.

When someone has taken​ advantage of you and you smile, it is a sign of open-mindedness.

When you are helpless and you smile, it is a sign of calmness.

When you are looked down upon and you smile, it is a sign of confidence.

And finally, the ability to smile when you are misunderstood is rare - a sign of a good upbringing.

My Father brought me up well.

How many times have you had to postpone what you wanted to do just because you did not have the time to do it?

I bet your answer would be - many times

But do you know that we own time and that time does not own us?

What do I mean?

Time is a perishable commodity in our hands and the way we use it determines the height  we are likely to ascend to.

When you postpone for tomorrow what you can do today, all you are saying is that whatever it is does not constitute a priority item to you. Because if it does, you definitely will find the time to do it no matter how busy you may be.

Postponing for tomorrow that which can be done today is called PROCRASTINATION. I am sure it is not a new word to you. We are guilty of it in one form or the other and it is popularly said that procrastination is a destiny destroyer, meaning that those who constantly procrastinate would take forever to arrive at where they want to be (i.e. if they arrive at all)

We all need to live in the mindset of NOW, the mindset that demands that things be done just when they are thought of, in order not to delay them.

Psychologists and Social Scientists have found a cure for procrastination. It is encapsulated in the acronym - DIN

It has been shown that applying DIN on daily basis has reduced procrastination rates to less than 10% for those who were ardent procrastinators.

And DIN stands for DO IT NOW.

Now, that is the Truth, the WHOLE Truth and nothing but the Truth

Our life's default setting goes like this - go to School, swot and get the best of grades, graduate with a high class, obtain a certificate, then pick up a well paid job in a good Company, settle down with a wife or husband, bring children into the world in response to God's marching order - "Go ye and multiply", work for 35 years, while working, ensure that you accumulate enough wealth for your retirement, then finally retire and start enjoying life!

Yes?

This default setting has put all of us in the rat-race; everyone racing to meet up with his or her own timelines. It has also brought a lot of casualties on the way and thus making us qualify people as failures or successful when ordinarily, we are all on a different route to the same destination.

However, my take today on this matter is about working for 35 years, then retiring to a life of comfort and pleasure. This has proven to be more of a mirage than the real deal. I can count on my fingers how many persons get to the retirement age, actually retire and then start "enjoying life" from their accumulated retirement savings. But what pains one the moist is that even with all the glee and glamour attached to that part of the default setting, quite a number of persons work their fingers off to earn money and be able to save for their retirement only to retire and within one year, answer the eternal call.

Does it make sense that when a man is about to reap the rewards of his hard labour, death comes knocking on his door? and that door must be opened whether he likes it or not!

This knowledge should change the narrative especially for those who are still working and saving up for the rainy day - save by all means BUT do not postpone living to the time when you shall retire for no one can say when the eternal call shall come.

When I was a young boy, filled with all my dreams of conquering the World, I used to wonder why most of the Adults I met were in one form of lack or the other.

When I saw a woman sitting on the streets with her child by her side and begging for alms, I used to ask myself,, why life would be so wicked as to allow a Mother to suffer her child for lack of resources.

And then I became an Adult and suddenly the meaning of all those things dawned on me. And it became clear to me too the saying that - "however we make our bed, so shall we lie in it" which means that whatever choice a man makes, that is what will follow him for life. If he made good choices, he sure would reap good rewards and if he made bad choices, he also would read bad rewards.

I also noticed that one can change one's choice along the way since it is not cast in reinforced concrete.

If things have not worked the way you expected them, take a look at the choices you made and currently making and do a swap.

It is never too late to go for the broke!!

Education is said to be a tool to liberate the mind of men and make them more humane as humans.

Has Education actually lived up to that billing? or have the educated failed Education?

Those who made such sweeping statement about education as I said in paragraph 1 above did not take into cognizance the noisome pestilence that ethnicity and religion constitute in the life of men to the point that no matter how educated anyone may be, those primordial sentiments of where I come from and what my religion is will always take precedence over whatever else is good about a situation or a person I have to deal with.

If education is really impacting on those educated, then why would an educated fellow allow himself to be used as a willing tool to rig an election for an uneducated fellow who happened to be a money bag? 

Why would an educated fellow be making excuses for failure of those in power simply because they belong to the same religion or come from the same place? Or why would an educated fellow be hailing someone in governance who apparently is just speaking too much English with little or nothing to show for his governance status?

I could go on and on but the point has been made.

The Educated have failed Education and she is so highly disappointed

It is true that life and the living of it comes with no manual, however, it is said that he who hit the ground first is certainly wiser and more knowledgeable about the goings on, than he who just arrived.

In that saying lies the fact that whatever anyone wants to be in this life, however anyone wants to live, some one,  some where at a some time, has been it or lived it.

Or infact that some one is actually living it right next to the searcher.

While not trying to be a copy-cat but anyone can copy and paste the lifestyle he wants to have by simply following the steps of someone who has either lived it or is currently living.

That is called Mentorship.

With mentorship the learning curve is abridged to the minimal length

Life without a Mentor is a hard task Master.

Get a Mentor today.
