The Truth - 68

The Truth - 68

The Truth, The Whole Truth and Nothing But The Truth

The third major reason why most of us are not living life to the max is the fact that we have become comfortable in whichever state we are in.

This is called the comfort zone.

And it is the most important of all the reasons.

The comfort zone is the trick that our subconscious plays on us, to say that we have all we want to have and thus there is no need to struggle again, to hustle, to chase new dreams

The vast majority of us are very reluctant to step out of our comfort zone to try something new. This isn’t a criticism. It’s just normal human behaviour. It’s how most of us are wired.

So the comfort zone just allows us to easily drift through life, waiting, praying and hoping for something good to come along.

Until a man is able to surmount his comfort zone irrespective of how old he is, there is no growth going on again and when a man stops growing, he simply starts dying,

Don't be too comfortable with your present situation no matter how "rich" it is, there is always a better than that waiting for who will take the next step out of their comfort zone.

The comfort zone is a shell, in which all growth ceases, to grow one needs to break out of that shell and step out into his dreams.

The second major reason why we are not living life to the max is that majority of us are just not very much willing to handle the hoe and cutlass.

What do I mean?

Most people just aren't willing to put in the time, energy, and effort to learn one or more enterprising skills. It's so much easier to just watch Netflix or Africa Magic  because that requires no skills acquisition.

A lot of people just think that because they have a B. Sc. in something or a B. A. in another, it is a good enough excuse to wait for jobs that are not there and despite how long they sit on the waiting bench, they just won't do anything else.

Until a man is able to realize that a certificate is as good as the possessor of that certificate, so long would such a man keep waiting for godot.

There is nothing wrong with working at a job, absolutely nothing, I encourage it BUT if the job is not yet forthcoming, a man with a certificate should want to also garner a sabiticate that can help him tide over the times.

The era of please assist me with N1000 or recharge me or send me data is gone for good.

Every man should be able and willing to earn his own money and spend it as he desires.

It is popularly said that a certificate will help you eke out a living but a sabiticate will establish you and help you live a life

The Truth, The Whole Truth and Nothing But The Truth

I was just going through a write up the other day - wow - a very powerful one for that matter and it hit me like a thunderbolt that there are 3 main reasons why many of us are not living up to the max and anyone who fully understands these three main reasons would surely climb to the top of the world and be looking down on creation.

The first major reason is DOUBT.

Doubt of our inherent ability to aid ourselves

Doubt that the Universal Essence really means well for His human extensions

Doubt of the goodness of mankind

Doubt that we shall not be swept away by our first step into howling and murky waters

Doubt, uncertainty, disbelief are all related and thus they lead us to procrastinate, to manufacture as many reasons as we can why we should not take the first step.

If it concerns business endeavour, it is doubt that would make us invent such excuses as “I don’t have the time”, “I don’t have the money”, “it’s a scam”, “I’m not clever enough”, “it’s too good to be true”, “I could never learn all that computer stuff”, “that sort of thing is for other people, not me”. And all that

Today I want to tell you that those who made success out of their lives also entertained fears and doubts BUT they had FAITH in their DOUBTS.

If only you can exercise your faith and take that first step into your future, you would be surprised at what is waiting for you at the other end of the spectrum

The Truth - 65

The Truth - 65

The Truth, The Whole Truth and Nothing But The Truth

Here's a thought for the day:

“what would I do if I was ten times bolder?”

It’s a question I’ve used a few times in my life since I read it in a book given to me when I was a teenager called - The Magic of Thinking Big - by David Schwartz (a cheesy book for 1960's American travelling salesmen........ah well!)

It enables me to drown out that little voice in my head, which  tries to hold me back from making decisions that might involve a bit of risk.

That 'little voice' is anxiety, or self-doubt.

We all have it, to a greater or lesser degree, because it’s pre-programmed into us at birth, and reinforced as we grow up.

It’s there for good reason - to keep us safe; handy if you're walking through a dark jungle full of sabre tooth tigers, but not so useful if you just want to go camping in The Lake District.

But it's also why so many of us never realize anything like our full potential. Because we often decide that we won't be able to do something before we even try.

So what happens when I have a decision to make and ask myself the question “what would I do if I was ten times bolder?”.

I often get back an unexpected answer.

"Just do it" and "do it now"

But this is the answer you should adopt (unless it involves punching someone, especially if they're bigger than you).

It’s a simple strategy, and it doesn't always work, I'll admit that, but it works more often than not, and I’ve never regretted using it.

It's enabled me to achieve a few things in my life that I would otherwise have been too scared to attempt; such as leaving everything I built up over many years to go back to Medical School to study Medicine, knowing that I was going to be my own sponsor - (it was scary but I did it and I have never regretted doing it); such as proposing  to my wife when she was eventually revealed to me (which was one of the best decisions I have ever made because I don't know how I would have been smelling by now if I was not married to her).

It also enabled me to put my feet down and say No to injustice even though it cost me lots

So there it is. You have the thought. I’ve planted the seed, It’s in your head, and you won't be able to forget it now.

I hope it brings you joy and success.

So when next you have a decision to make and it appears to be too scary, just ask yourself that question - "What would I do if I was ten times bolder" take the answer - "just do it" and run with it

The Truth - 64

The Truth - 64

The Truth, The Whole Truth and Nothing But The Truth

The past two weeks have had its toll on Nigeria and Nigerians.

What with the protest embarked upon by the Nigerian Youths which emanated from the killing of a Nigerian somewhere in Delta State by the Special Anti Robbery Squad - SARS of the Nigerian Police. A killing which the young people regarded as one too many and which showed the excesses of the Police men.

In protesting and asking for the disbandment of the SARS team, the Nigerian Youths were within their rights just as the Nigerian President noted in his address.

An outfit which was set up to pick up the criminals in the Society and which turns around to label everyone it meets a criminal and takes laws into its hands in conducting extra-judicial exterminations has reached the peak of its existence and that was the message the youths wanted the Nation to understand.

But then as in everything that is done on this Planet, while the sower goes out to sow wheat, the enemy always goes out to sow tares.

The protest that was going on very peacefully suddenly went violent due to the infiltration of the ranks of the peaceful protesters by those who obviously were drafted to do the obvious so that the dog would be given a bad name just to have reason to send it to the gallows.

The protest came to a head on Tuesday 20th October 2020 (what is now being described as #BlackTuesday) when protesters were shot at by gun carrying persons and a number of them died while others were injured.

No organization is taking responsibility for the shootings and the killings but then tongues are wagging about you know who and fingers are pointing to you know where

Is the protest dead?

Did it achieve anything?

Are there lessons to be learnt?

The truth of the matter is that though the protest may have been about the urgent need to reform the Police Force and infact other Security Agencies in Nigeria, it really exposed most of the ills of the Nigerian Nation and the Powers that be would do well to address these issues before an eruption occurs in the land.

The Truth - 63

The Truth - 63

The Truth, The Whole Truth and Nothing But The Truth

In this season of anomie, the lyrics of a once popular song come to mind

How many roads must a man walk down

before they call him a man

How many seas must a white dove sail

before she can sleep in the sand?

How many times must the cannonballs fly

before they're forever banned?

The answer my friend is blowing in the wind

the answer is blowing in the wind

How many years can a mountain exist

before it is washed to the sea?

HOW MANY YEARS CAN SOME PEOPLE EXIST

BEFORE THEY ARE ALLOWED TO BE FREE

HOW MANY TIMES CAN A MAN TURN HIS HEAD

AND PRETEND THAT HE JUST DOESN'T SEE

The answer my friend is blowing in the wind

the answer is blowing in the wind

How many times must a man look up

before he can see the sky?

HOW MANY EARS MUST ONE MAN HAVE

BEFORE HE CAN HEAR PEOPLE CRY?

HOW MANY DEATHS WILL IT TAKE TILL HE KNOWS

THAT TOO MANY PEOPLE HAVE DIED?

The answer my friend is blowing in the wind

the answer is blowing in the wind

How many times must a man have his wife

before she can give him a son?

HOW MANY TIMES MUST OFFICIALS STEAL

BEFORE THEY CAN BE CALLED THIEVES?

HOW MANY YEARS WILL IT TAKE TO KNOW

THAT LEADERSHIP IS SACRIFICE?

The answer my friend is blowing in the wind

the answer is blowing in the wind

The Truth - 62

The Truth - 62

The Truth, The Whole Truth and Nothing But The Truth

I am sad, very sad indeed

I am sad that 60 years after independence, we as a people still find it extremely very difficult to contain one another

I am sad that our Rulers always find a way to pitch us against one another and then descend on us as a predator would do to a prey

I am sad that while in saner democratic climes, water guns,  tear gas and other non-debilitating devices are used to disperse forceful and uncontrollable demonstrators, Nigeria's brand of democracy is one where live bullets are shot at peaceful protesters with the intention to kill and actually killing

I am sad that while arsonists, armed robbers, bandits and terrorists are having a field day maiming and killing Nigerians in their numbers on daily basis, the powers that be are more interested in using force to quell righteous indignation of the Nation's Youth

I am sad that Nigerians in their millions continue to pray to God on daily basis and yet the land drips with the blood of innocent people and one of the things that God HATES with a passion is the shedding of innocent blood - how then can He answer us?

I am sad that our democracy has been turned into what Fela Anikulapo Kuti of blessed memory described as "demonstration of craze"

The truth of the matter is that the turn of events in the past 24 hours especially with the shooting and the killings of Nigeria's flag bearing unarmed protesters at Lekki in Lagos has made me sad.

I am indeed very sad

The Truth - 61

The Truth, The Whole Truth and Nothing But The Truth

In this life,

I have felt pain

I have endured hardship

I have been abused, embarrassed, and harassed

I have been blackmailed, humiliated and given up on

I have suffered loss of dear ones

And I have other memories, I want to forget

However

These things have made me stronger

And today I face the World with a smile

Because I know that things will always get better

And those who genuinely and sincerely love me, will always be there for me

It is obvious just as it is a popular saying that "what does not kill you makes you stronger"

In life, you will realize that there is a role for everyone who walks into your life

-       some will test you

-       some will trick you

-       some will love you

-       some with hate your guts

-       some will use and dump you

-       some will treasure you

-       some will teach you

-       some will blackmail you

-       some will impersonate you

-       some will constantly annoy you

-       some will serve as the friendly enemies

-       some will betray you

-       some will abandon you when you need them most

-       some will fall  your hand just as the Sun is about to rise

BUT

the ones who are truly important are the ones who bring out the best in you

They are the rare and amazing people who remind you daily why it's worth it

If

1.     Your definition of success is wisdom

2.     People always confide in you. You are a keeper of secrets

3.     You see the bigger picture but may still struggle to understand your role

4.     You champion at least one cause that will further the evolution of mankind

5.     You are aware of synchronicity and the role it plays in your life and that of other peoples' lives

6.     You struggled to fit in when you were a child and may struggle until you accept your mission and let go of any resentment you have about being different and asked to make sacrifices

7.     You are spiritual and communicate with the Great Spirit in various ways and forms

then you are an OLD SOUL my friend

And the Universe is waiting to decorate and celebrate you
