There's Work To Be Done

My People,

Greetings of the new day to you

Here is hoping that you and yours woke up well and are keying into God’s plan for you today. May His Holy Name be continually praised now and for ever Amen.

It’s a Saturday and the much awaited weekend is here

Oh how good it feels to just sleep on, to just lie in and sleep as if there are no headaches in the world, as if we have no challenges, as if we don’t even want to come out of bed again

But my dear, sleep what you may, there is still work to be done.

For until we arrive at that stage in life when
--  there are no more hunger and injustice,
--  no more abject poverty, want and penury,
--  no more hankering after things that do not belong to us,
--  no more politically motivated killings and kidnappings,
--  no more degradation of the environment,
--  no more discrimination against persons based on their gender, class, ethnic origin, shape of their heads, colour of their eyes, sexuality, diseases or their likes,
--  no more economically motivated killings,
--  no more BOKO HARAM,
-- no more FULIANI JIHADISTS masquerading as Cattle Rearers
--  no more Scientifically Packaged Lies against the People
--  no more BOGUS CLAIMS by Persons in High Offices of things they have done when it is obvious that all they have done is to loot the people blind
--  unemployment and underemployment reduced to barest minimum …..

Until then, my dear friend, THERE IS WORK TO BE DONE

So don’t over sleep in the guise of resting from the stress of the week, for even today would come with its own stress. We were born in stress, through stress and in stress do we live.

Do the needful, rest yes but wake up to pursue your goals for the day. A day without goals is a wasted day

It’s the weekend people

Live your life well

Happy weekend

Bless and be blessed

Hymn For The New Year - 1

God is working His purpose out
As year succeeds to year
God is working His purpose out
And the time is drawing near
Nearer and nearer draws the time
The time that shall surely be
When the earth shall be filled
With the glory of God
As the waters cover the sea

From utmost east to utmost west
Where’er man’s foot have trod
By the mouth of many messengers
Goes forth the Voice of God
Give ear to Me ye Continents
Ye Isles give ear to Me
That
That the earth may be filled
With the glory of God
As the waters cover the sea

What can we do to work God’s work
To prosper and increase
The brotherhood of all mankind
The reign of the Prince of Peace
What can we do to hasten the time
The time that shall surely come
When
When the earth shall be filled
With the glory of God
As the waters cover the sea

March we forth in the strength of God
With the Banner of Christ unfurled
That the light of the glorious gospel
Of truth may shine throughout the world
Fight we the fight with sorrow and sin
To set their captives free
That the earth shall be filled
With the glory of God
As the waters cover the sea

All we can do is nothing worth
Unless God blesses the deed
Vainly we hope for the harvest tide
Till God gives life to the seed
Yet nearer and nearer draws the time
The time that shall surely be
When the earth shall be filled
With the glory of God

As the waters cover the sea

Go To Work

My Friends.

Greetings of the new day which is also the commencement of the new working week

Thank God for His mercies that brought us back to the land of the living today, for by our own power we would never have made it, but His love for us which He showed right from the Garden of Eden has sustained us right up to the present time. May all honour, glory, dominion and adoration be His for now and for ever – Amen

It’s Monday, the 14th of September, this month is hastening on.

What are your hands doing?
What thoughts are spewing out of your mind?
What plans are still on the drawing table?

Get to work
It is high time to put an end to that drought
Looks like the rain is taking the passenger’s seat while the sun is becoming the driver on daily basis

Use both well

And while you do that, the Lord of harvest would sow good seeds in your life

Today

Bless and be Blessed

5 Easy Ways To Stand Out And Get People To Notice You At Work

Do you have trouble standing out from the crowd at work?
The best solution is to reinvent those tiresome “chores” that your co-workers dread.

By finding ways to make these tasks more palatable (or even fun!) you can get noticed at work while building your brand.

Here are five of the easiest ways to make it happen. Choose the one(s) that helps you bolster your personal brand.

Make Your Presentations Pop
Most presentations at most companies are a combination at bullets and words. Bo-ring!  I was delivering a keynote at a major financial services firm in New York last week, and the A/V director said to me, “I see dozens of presentations a day, and there is only one person inside the firm who has interesting ones – everyone in the firm knows him because his presentations are really wow.” Try to reduce the number of words on your slides by 90%. Use images to convey your message instead. Add animations to make it playful, and change the standard transitions to something that adds excitement and energy. Just don’t overdo it; you don’t want your message to get lost in the glitz.

Lead fun meetings.
When you think about what you do each week, attending meetings probably comes to mind, evoking a sigh of dread. When you lead meetings, use this as an opportunity to stand out by making every element of the meeting engaging and interesting . Start with the invitation. Be original! Begin your meeting with an interesting activity, short but thought-provoking video or a powerful question that each participant has to answer. Create materials that are fun and compelling. Hold your meetings in unusual places – like outside. The ultimate goal is for your meetings to become so differentiated, interesting and productive that people throughout the organization actually hope to be invited

Change your voicemail greeting.
I created my voicemail greeting at an airport, and you can hear the flight announcements in the background. When people leave a voicemail for me, they often comment on my outgoing message, telling me it’s on-brand because I am always traveling. So I have not changed that message in years. Another approach is to change it every day! This takes commitment and requires getting into the habit, but has an impact. It makes an impression when someone hears “Today is Tuesday, December 30th. I will be in workshops all morning, but I will get back to you this afternoon….” People are sick of the standard “I’m not available right now but if you leave your name and number and a brief message….” Instead of saying, “not available,” tell them what you’re doing. This helps callers learn more about you and the value you provide. Think about how you can make your voicemail greeting stand out from the pack, and if you’re up to it, change it daily.

Redecorate.
Most offices in most companies are beige and boring. One client in the UK painted her office pink. Another client brought in her Nespresso coffee machine – making her office a meeting spot for the espresso crowd. A client in Seattle brought in her own furniture – a glass and chrome desk and leather and chrome Barcelona chairs because she was working in marketing for the luxury segment and wanted her office to reflect that. When I was rising through the ranks at Lotus (a division of IBM) I changed my office to suit my brand attributes of being health-conscious and collaborative. I replaced one of the two desks in my office with a round table, and I brought in a glass bowl from home, which I filled each week with Granny Smith apples. It wasn’t such a giant deviation from the standard office, but it was enough to get noticed; in fact, it became known as “the Pottery Barn showroom.” Company rules may limit what you’re able to do, or your manager may not want you to make major changes, but you can still work within those constraints. Even in companies with strict rules about office space, there are things you can do to make yours stand out and reinforce your brand attributes – like bringing in fresh flowers weekly or changing your screen-saver and the pictures you post to your wall.

Replace text with images and video.
Are you sick of reading emails and instant messages? We see a lot of text each day. If you want your communications to stand out, use images and video. Create an infographic to share the latest company statistics. Integrate images into your email signature. Send video proposals to clients or your boss, and use video to thank and congratulate team members and colleagues. Hold video meetings instead of phone conferences, and send video updates to your remotely based team members. Here’s a piece I wrote with video resources.

Remember, branding is about differentiation. Think about these opportunities and choose the ones that feel authentic to you, leading to everyday habits that bolster your brand.

10 Quick Ways To Supercharge Your Career

Truth be told, you’re making it hard for others to support your career.

At least that’s the case if you are skipping any of the ten basic principles on this list.

In the spirit of full disclosure, not every item on this list is easy to implement, but each is easier to live with than the frustration of watching your talents go underutilized:

1. Kindness first.
The first thing you do, every day, should be to help a few other people.

Do this without fail; put it on your calendar. Introduce others.

Promote the best work of your colleagues and/or clients.

Help those on the margins, not just the already rich and powerful.

This habit will not only make you feel better, but it also will shift the way that others perceive you.

2. Admit weakness.
Hands down, the best thing a capable professional can do is to openly admit where they are weak.

Why?
Because this gives your colleagues an opportunity to help you, which makes them feel more capable and appreciated.

3. Be both confident and competent.
Confidence without competence makes you little more than an empty suit.

Competence without confidence is a tragic waste of your gifts.

To enjoy long-term success, work to balance these two essential elements.

It’s not easy, but getting the balance right will make an enormous difference to your career.
4. Be superficial occasionally.
Did you crop your spouse out of your LinkedIn LNKD -0.66% photo?

Does your Twitter TWTR -0.43% image look like you were on the lam from the law?

Do you cut your own hair?

Much as I love the idea of living in a meritocracy, the truth is that we all make snap judgments based on appearances. Invest some time and money in looking your best.

5. Don’t wait for the title.
If you want a promotion, act like you already have it.

Do more than is expected of you, even if it means working nights and weekends.
6. Simplify your goals.

Nine out of ten professionals I meet can’t explain simply what they want next in their career. If you can’t understand what you want next, no one else can, either.

Keep stripping away bits and pieces until you are able to explain what you want, even to a seven-year-old.

7. Be authentic.
Don’t pretend to be someone else, and don’t pretend to care when you don’t.

Be 100% honest.
Be 100% yourself.
Most importantly, if you say you are going to do something, do it.

8. Connect proactively.
The world never stops, and you can’t ever settle for the people you already know.

Never stop reaching out to dynamic people with interests that could overlap with your own.

Avoid getting stuck in a box; even if you are 72, reach out proactively to 23-year-
olds who have energy and ideas.

9. Change your own damn career.
People always wait too long for external forces to change their status.

You have the ability to change your fate, as long as you are willing to pay the price to get what you want.

10. Proof your own work. If you rely on others – subordinates, assistants, etc. – to catch your errors, you will get soft and dependent. Personally make sure your work is perfect.

7 Habits Of People Who Are Happy At Work

When it comes to the research results on happiness in the American workforce, the statistics are not flattering.

A recent survey by the staffing firm Manpower Group discovered that nearly two-thirds of American and Canadian workers were not happy in their job.

A recent Gallup survey found that close to 60% of American workers were unhappy enough in their jobs to want a new career.

Most of us have found ourselves in a job that was not fulfilling at some point.

While psychologists and social scientists believe some of our happiness is predetermined by our genes, at least a major portion of it is within our control.
Regardless of your situation at work, here are seven habits that people who have found happiness at their jobs have mastered.

1. THEY HAVE COMMITTED TO CONTINUOUSLY IMPROVING AS A LIFETIME GOAL.
Happier people believe in doing the best they can whether or not they are given credit for the work they do.

Giving their best makes them feel better about themselves. It creates character, builds self-regard, and forms good work habits that will benefit them in the future regardless if anyone in their present position notices or cares.

2. THEY HAVE GOALS WORTH STRIVING FOR.
People with clear goals they are working toward are able to look beyond everyday workplace irritants and problems.

They know they will be temporary, and are able to see beyond them.

When things are not going well, they focus on their goals instead of the negative situation that surrounds them at work.

3. THEY DON’T GET CAUGHT UP IN ISSUES BEYOND THEIR CONTROL.
Happier people don’t let themselves get emotionally caught up in negative vibes or gossip that is toxic in the workplace.

They focus on the work at hand and on what they are able to do.

They avoid getting involved in issues and conflicts that do not involve them and are beyond their area of involvement.

They always focus their attention and energies on areas they have control over, which gives them a sense of satisfaction,

4. THEY ARE WILLING TO HELP OTHERS.
Happy people are always looking for ways they can help others.

Researchers at the University of Wisconsin-Madison found that people who helped others at work were happier than those who didn’t.

While helping others can lead to promotion, there are also warm feelings of satisfaction that come from helping out our fellow human beings.

5. THEY AVOID NEGATIVE PEOPLE AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE.
When coming across a negative person or chronic complainer at work, happy people find ways to try to refocus on coming up with solutions or looking at the situation from another angle.

Their positive energy often causes complainers and whiners to avoid them since they know they will not receive a sympathetic ear.

Happy people are aware that negative people are an energy drain, and find ways to limit the amount of time that they have to spend with them.

6. THEY MAKE GRATITUDE AN INTEGRAL PART OF THEIR LIFE.
While they strive for more in life, happy people are constantly aware of all the reasons they have to be grateful.

They express their gratitude freely and openly, and are quick to offer thanks to those who help them or do a kind deed.

This attitude of gratitude attracts people to the positive energy that they give off. Colleagues want to be around them and work with them.

When things are not going well, they choose to focus on all of the things that have gone well in their lives.

7. THEY MANAGE THEIR EMOTIONS AND HAVE A SENSE OF HUMOR.
Happy people automatically try to make the most of every situation, whether at work, home, or play.

They have discovered they can change their emotions by smiling or thinking of humorous situations.

They are also able to distract themselves by thinking of pleasant, happy, fun times and places.

Whenever a situation comes up that threatens to engulf them in negative energy, they rely on their ability to rise above it and remain in a positive mental space.
