The Truth - 64

The Truth - 64

The Truth, The Whole Truth and Nothing But The Truth

The past two weeks have had its toll on Nigeria and Nigerians.

What with the protest embarked upon by the Nigerian Youths which emanated from the killing of a Nigerian somewhere in Delta State by the Special Anti Robbery Squad - SARS of the Nigerian Police. A killing which the young people regarded as one too many and which showed the excesses of the Police men.

In protesting and asking for the disbandment of the SARS team, the Nigerian Youths were within their rights just as the Nigerian President noted in his address.

An outfit which was set up to pick up the criminals in the Society and which turns around to label everyone it meets a criminal and takes laws into its hands in conducting extra-judicial exterminations has reached the peak of its existence and that was the message the youths wanted the Nation to understand.

But then as in everything that is done on this Planet, while the sower goes out to sow wheat, the enemy always goes out to sow tares.

The protest that was going on very peacefully suddenly went violent due to the infiltration of the ranks of the peaceful protesters by those who obviously were drafted to do the obvious so that the dog would be given a bad name just to have reason to send it to the gallows.

The protest came to a head on Tuesday 20th October 2020 (what is now being described as #BlackTuesday) when protesters were shot at by gun carrying persons and a number of them died while others were injured.

No organization is taking responsibility for the shootings and the killings but then tongues are wagging about you know who and fingers are pointing to you know where

Is the protest dead?

Did it achieve anything?

Are there lessons to be learnt?

The truth of the matter is that though the protest may have been about the urgent need to reform the Police Force and infact other Security Agencies in Nigeria, it really exposed most of the ills of the Nigerian Nation and the Powers that be would do well to address these issues before an eruption occurs in the land.

Now that is *The Truth, the WHOLE Truth and nothing but the Truth*

  1. Lots of innocent blood of the peaceful protesters were shed kn 20th October 2020, Black Tuesday indeed. May their souls rest in Peace and may the good Lord strengthen and support them to bear their loss while he grants quick recovery to those heart broken physically amd emotionally. It has indeed let the world know that Nigerians are being maltreated by the Nigerian Police especially the SARS. Let us not be in a hurry to forget this day and the stains of blood in our memory when it's time to vote in new leaders. Thank you Dr Jerry for sharing.

    1. It is our prayer that the people will not forget how they have been used by those they put into office to serve them

      That is our earnest prayer
