Gratitude Is The Greatest Attitude
Growing up, my Father
taught me that gratitude is the best route to getting anything one wanted out
of life. It was not a lesson taught by words but one taught by actions. Because
I noticed that whenever he did something for me and I forgot to thank him, the
next time I ask, he would delay so much that I ended up forgetting what it was
I even asked for in the first place but whenever he did something for me and I
immediately thanked and appreciated him, the next time I ask, he would do it
without delay. That was how I learnt that lesson and it has taken me to places
and gotten me things I ordinarily may not have had easily.
I have learnt to be grateful for what I have and I have always ended up having more.
I have always refused to hunger for the little things I don't have because focusing on them takes me away from the realm of being grateful to my Maker for all the multitude of the things He has bestowed on me which money alone cannot buy.
Sometimes we are too busy thinking about all the things we don't have or all the opportunities we have missed and lost that we forget to actually live in the present appreciating what is in our lives especially the most important single factor that we are still ALIVE and BREATHING, And that only the living can have hope of a tomorrow and make plans for such a tomorrow.
An Igbo proverb has it that "ekele onye akidi, ya agwota ozo" meaning when "you appreciate the one who prepared the bean salad, she would bend over backwards and bring some more"
The time has come and is actually now when men should learn to live in the present and stop being worried about yesterday or concerned about tomorrow - both of which they have no control over.
Live in the present.
Live your life to the
fullest
Learn how to appreciate
the little things of life, they are the things that bring the most joy and
happiness.
Be kind to yourself
No matter your expectations,
don't beat up yourself when you don't meet them
There is no man alive who
has all his expectations met
In this game of life, you
win some and you lose some but life continues.
Life is not a bed of red roses
It will be hard
There will be trials of
your faith
There will be turmoil
There will be landslide
disappointments
You shall be betrayed by
friends and family
But being grateful for the
life you have
shall place you a pedestal
ahead of all your detractors put together
Gratitude is the greatest attitude to attain your highest altitude
Real happiness is not found in money or things or fame or possessions no matter how costly or expensive, not even when you have achieved a particular success you have hankered after for a long time. Real happiness lies in GRATITUDE.
Gratitude gives you the strength to go on.
It gives you the strength
you need to be stronger to face all the challenges of life
It gives you the strength
you need to accept yourself as you are
It gives you the strength
you need to cherish the blessings you have on daily basis
It gives you the strength
to love yourself and be able to love others as you love yourself
So from today, learn to be grateful, learn to be alive, learn to live every moment as if it's your last.

Gratitude sounds so easy but not everyone remembers to tender it. Some don't even know when to say THANK YOU!

ReplyDeleteA heart of gratitude is a heart that acknowledges God and other people. People without a heart of gratitude do have a SENSE OF ENTITLEMENT TO EVERYTHING THAT GETS TO THEM". They have this believe that they got what came to them because they are entitled to it. Therefore the need to be appreciative and show gratitude, to them, is unnecessary or irrelevant.
WHATEVER WE ARE/HAVE IS BY THE GRACE OF GOD, EVEN IF SUCH WAS ORDAINED BY GOD AS OUR DESTINY. That is why we must imbibe a heart of gratitude.
Gratitude pays great dividends

ReplyDeleteTrue talk indeed. These two posts have revealed to everyone that nothing can overstate the need for gratitude, in another word; appreciation. Many people have attained heights they never aspired for;because of their attitude to gratitude. Many people likewise have fallen from the apex of their careers and dreams because they lack the attitude of appreciation. I tell you, you are as good as your attitude. This little sentence has made many stand or fall before kings and great men.
Another step to gratitude is this: show gratitude to those above you or even beneath you before they even do any good thing . It is like seeds sown waiting for an unexpected day of bountiful harvest.
Anything in life you show gratitude, you also show respect and in turn you are bound to benefit positively from it.
Gratitude even in small measures empowers the doer or the giver
DeleteGratitude is the living truth. Thank you Sir for sharing this words of wisdom.
ReplyDeleteGood to read from you
DeleteEKWEDIKE CHINWE:Gratitude is a virtue that everyone should imbibe in life.Remember the parable in the Bible about the 10 lepers who were healed by Jesus only one came back to appreciate, then he received more because The Lord told him that his healing is now perfect. When you place value on the little things you have, you are bound to progress. Not taking it for granted but always be thankful, appreciative opens more doors. No one likes to invest/ give to people who don't show gratitude.
ReplyDeleteGratitude tales us higher than we ordinarily are placed
ReplyDeleteWaaooo!!!!!....this is the whole truth..I use the art of gratefulness to counsel my depressed client at the clinic.this presentation reminds me of the song." Count your many blessings, name them one by one,and it will surprise you what the Lord has done"
ReplyDeleteA grateful heart never gets depressed ...

ReplyDeletePresido, This is sweet. I wouldn't argue as to whether any attitude, let gratitude be it, can stand out as most important but I completely share your experience for it worked for me in practical terms with my Dad as well. This write up is profound in depth, inundating in facts and established in truth. This is awesome, very encouraging, solution pointing and poignantly great. It is the way to live that makes life so livable. There is no way I could have ignored this.lt is surely a blessing.l can't just hold back the appreciation :they just flow out. Thank you.
Good to read this comment and to hear that our efforts are appreciated
DeleteDr.Jerry The First Oguzie, the Convener of Community of Wealth Creators, I can not agree less to this your write up on GRATITUDE ! Gratitude means THANKS & APPRECIATION and it can change one's life because it makes one appreciate what one has rather than what one doesn't have. It is the single most powerful source of inspiration that any person can tap into if they simply just stop and pay attention to the simplistic beauty andiracle of life. On a regular basis, I teach patients and people generally to be grateful for the little things of life because it makes a while lot of difference than being ungrateful. A wise one said that " Gratitude is riches and Complaints is poverty. Thanks for all you do for humanity through your ministry of ENCOURAGEMENT !
ReplyDeleteWe are pleased to read this from you Dr.Ekwedike
DeleteRemain blessed
I can not be over grateful to you my maker. Oh Lord am for ever grateful for your hand upon my life, for I would have been long gone if not for your hand upon my life. Every second of the day for being alive is enough reason to be grateful
