Hello my friends
In commemoration of the
55th Independence of Nigeria our Country, I am led to offer all my friends who
shall signify interest by participating in this simple task a FREE GIVEAWAY.
50 years ago, I read a
book that changed the course of my life (not that I was heading towards the
abyss - no far from that); but that book brought home some teachings my Father
imparted into me while growing up.
In the course of my life
times, I have over and over again gone back to that book to cross check the
principles that I have applied and which have worked for me and to renew the
energy and strength to continue soldiering on.
That book though scarce
now, is a life giving and sustaining book and it is the book that I intend to
send soft copies to all my friends who shall take part in this simple task in
commemoration of the 55th Independence Anniversary of Nigeria.
If you want to change the
course of your life or you want to have a barometer to measure how well you are
doing or have done, you need to have that book.

@ 55, I think we should stop chasing shadows. Government at all levels should see to the social welfare of the masses rather than using our national resources to chase past corrupt leaders
ReplyDeleteMy humble view
Nigeria @55 i believe the way forward has been examined at the National Conference and it was admitted that Nigeria, being an artificial contraption, needed to be restructured. We did not agree on confederacy but we did propose fiscal federalism. I think change can only come to Nigeria through a social revolution and not by the ballot, because only those who have the financial means win elections in Nigeria.
ReplyDeleteA change which maintains the status quo cannot be change. You see how difficult it is for the different arms of government to work together. So, we need a social revolution because I don’t think they will allow the will of the ballot to prevail since money is now the deciding factor.
God Bless Nigeria.
Happy Independence.
55 years and still learning to walk?
ReplyDeleteNigeria needs to grow up quickly and growing up includes looking at hard facts in the face and accepting them for unity and togetherness
Any Federalism without fiscal federalism is a contraption and may not be kept together for long
Nigeria has continued to struggle for real unity and development basically because her children, especially the leaders do not love her. Who really loves this country called Nigeria? Who is ready to die for Nigeria? If there are, then this is time to act because their mother, Nigeria, is old enough to become fully independent or to attain certain level of realistic self-reliance.
ReplyDeleteI can bet to be one but that can be under extremely unusual circumstance. The circumstance must be that of the collaboration of like-minds from all major ethnic groups of Nigeria since, very unfortunately, till today after 55 years of acclaimed independence from physical colonialism, every movement and action of any Nigerian is linked with ethnicity, even often more than religion.
Nigerians! What is the way forward?
The state and federal administrative structural set-ups should be fundamentally changed to achieve a truly democratic society where the rule of law reigns supreme above everyone including the presidency. The law enforcement agents like the Police, EFCC, SSS, NIA, etc should be completely and truly independent in terms of funding and administration. The press should be empowered by law to request for, obtain and publish documents that border on corruption and any other matters that are of public interest without being harassed by law enforcement agents. INEC should be truly and completely independent in terms of funding and administration, receiving orders from no one. The judiciary both at state and federal levels, should be truly and completely independent and no state or federal executive should have any form of power/influence on the judiciary by making the appointment, promotion and dismissal of local, state and federal judges
