is every act of integrity, compassion or sacrifice that enriched, empowered and encouraged others

is how long you will be remembered by who and for what

Living a life that matters doesn't happen by accident, it i not a matter or coincidence or circumstance  but of choice.

The Truth, The Whole Truth and Nothing But The Truth

 

I came across a write up that talked about raising plastic children.

I was intrigued by the title so I decided to read it and it turned out to be a lamentation on what today's children have become mainly because their Parents have over-protected them.

The writer was of the opinion that most of the world's Children of today are living on the glories of their Parents.

The Parents don't allow their Children to be stressed, they don't allow their children to sweat and thus they do not know how to do anything for themselves, they teach their children to pray and hope instead of praying and taking action; they teach their children to sort Lecturers out instead of studying to pass examinations; they literally take over running the lives of their children and in the process ruining them, making them both physically and intellectually lazy and giving them the license to live the entitlement mentality lifestyle where they expect that the world is at their feet for the take.

I could read meaning into the write up and the pain of the writer. I guess he was writing out of the mistake he had also made in raising his own kids - he did not say so in the write up though.

But come to think of it - why would a Parent buy admission for the child? why would a parent encourage sorting of lecturers for marks? why would a parent not allow the child to develop along his or her own lines, make his or her own mistakes and correct himself or herself while learning from it? why would a Parent live the life of his or her child?

For me, there is nothing wrong for any Parent to wish their child well and work with that child to see that he or she turns out a distinguished member of the Community, I also do so but to take over running the life of the child, I think it's uncalled for, because when that child is utterly dependent on the Parent, he or she cannot fit it well into the society and from such actions arise instances of personality disorders.

And so we advise Parents to train their children not in the manner of taking over their lives but in helping them to learn the ropes to be their own unique individuals and not photocopies.

It's Monday and the first day of the working week for those working the 8 - 4 grind and then also for the business persons who have no time limit but limited by time itself.

It's a day to go make some money

And talking about money, I came across a write up some time ago on some things that money does not respond to

It goes thus:

Money does not respond  to qualifications, otherwise the wealthiest people should have been Ph. D holders.

Money does not respond to age, otherwise the world’s oldest twins would have been the richest.

Money does not respond to colour of the eyes, otherwise the green eyed persons would have been the richest

Money does not respond to height, otherwise the tallest persons on earth would have been the richest

Money does not respond to the size of the head, otherwise the persons with the biggest heads would have been the richest

Money does not respond to weight, otherwise the heaviest persons would have been the richest

Money does not respond to the class of degree obtained from a higher institution otherwise, first class degree holders would have been the richest

Money does not respond to professional calling, otherwise Medical Doctors should have been the richest

What then does money respond to?

Money responds to a combination of hard and smart work, turning a passion into a means of earning through the combo of commitment and self discipline

The Truth, The Whole Truth and Nothing But The Truth

 

A time was in the history of the World when Europe under-devloped Africa by forcefully taking away our able and agile men and women into slavery to work on their plantations and other developmental projects and help them to move faster on the plane of infrastructural development.

They forced themselves on us, they created a schism amongst us, they divided us along ethnic lines, they ruled us with the hammer and pestle.

Many were docile and accepted their fate, some others who didn't want to accept their fate paid the supreme sacrifice.

It was such a dark time in the history of Africa

Somewhere along the line, they said they had abolished physical slavery but that did not mean much to us because we had imbibed their culture and traditions, their religion and educational system as our own.

We were no longer physical slaves to Europe, we have become mental slaves.

Mental slavery abounds in us and they show up in the choices we make - our travel destinations, our professional destinations, our cuisine choices, our garment choices, our written and spoken language, our mode of governance, the way we walk, the way we showcase ourselves and all that.

Is it not time that we took a good look at these things that have divided rather than unite us and do away with them?

As the Songwriter and iconic Singer Rastafarian Robert Nesta Marley alias Bob Marley, once sang - "emancipate yourselves from mental slavery, NONE BUT OURSELVES can free our souls"

Our fate is in our own hands.

And only us can change the narrative of our times

It is not very easy to stand for something, to take a position concerning a matter irrespective of who is involved.

That is the stuff of which real men are made.

He is yet to be a man, who dances at the fringes, who plays both hands because he doesn't know where the pendulum would swing, who wants to be in the good books of everyone he comes across, who does not want to hurt a fly. He is only but a physical adult but a crying baby in the mind.

Today's World needs real men. Men who would say it as it is. Men who would stand to be counted. Men who would rather err on the side of posterity than at the altar of the very popular FM = WIII-FM - WHAT IS IN IT FOR ME.

Being a man of your words would definitely make more enemies for you than friends but even your enemies would agree with themselves that you are you and would be the first to defend you if they hear that you did something that they know you cannot do.

To be a real man, you need to be a Spartan in body mind, soul and spirit.

Real men dance at the Centre so that people can see their dance steps.

Stand up to be counted.

Remember he who does not stand for something would definitely fall for anything.

Those of us who belong to the ancient brigade would remember what it was like to work very hard - it was more like hard labour.

Rushing out in the morning to beat the traffic, working with people we really wouldn't want to work with if we had the choice, bearing with a Boss that is breathing down our necks and pushing all the work to us while refusing to take responsibility for our failures, rushing back home and sometimes arriving very late due again to the traffic, gulping down our dinner, having no time to chum up with the wifey and the kids, sleeping very fitfully and then waking up the following morning in a daze to continue the race.

Most of us had no time to chase any other dreams - our lives were tied to the job we were working at and we felt lost if anything should happen to that job. We tried hard to make a living and thus could not really live at the same time.

But this script is outdated now and anyone still running it is living in the ancient times even though he be young.

Though hard work still pays good dividends but a combination of smart and hard work nails it all.

Life is to be lived and one can still live while making a living.

Having side hustles is the way to go in this gig economy and anyone treading that pathway hardly goes broke financially and this is simply because all monies add up.

Now, that is the Truth, the WHOLE Truth and nothing but the Truth

The Truth, The Whole Truth and Nothing But The Truth

 

 

The 1st day of every month offers an opportunity for a new beginning.

It gives men the hope that no matter how the last month had gone, the new month would certainly be better - are we all not led to believe that?

Have you noticed how some persons share the new month message with such claims as :God would solve all your problems .....", "God would kill all your enemies ...", "Every locked door would be opened for you ..."

While these are good positive psychology vibes, but most of us tend to swallow them hook, line and sinker as what will happen to us in the new month.

Those messages of hope tend to give us a false sense of comfort and keep us rooted in our comfort zones where our skins are intact without a scratch.

And that is where the real challenge is, for if those things do not happen, we lose our cool and either become disappointed or dispirited.

Now, on this 1st day of September 2020, while wishing you the very best experience you can have in a month, and also wishing that you be happy while it lasts, I want you to know that these are just but my wishes to you. They will not in any way over-rule the wishes you have for yourself for this month. Infact my wishes for you may not even affect you in any way. It is what you wish for yourself and which you work hard on that will definitely affect you and determine how your month would go.

You have heard the popular saying that "If wishes were horses, beggars would ride the finest of them"  - well that is at the core of the truth that wishes would never translate to reality if the wisher makes no effort to transmute the expressed wish into a physical reality.

Do you want to be healthy, happy, wealthy and enjoy wonderful relationships, then you have to leave the "wish - land" where hope plays a soothing role to the "work - and - do - land" where action begets results.

Now, that is  *the Truth, the WHOLE Truth and nothing but the Truth*
