The Change Nigerians Are Expecting

Before the "nunc dimitis" is sang to bid farewell to the PDP and Jonathan's administration, we wish to remind the incoming APC (New PDP) and Buhari's administration of the change that Nigerians are expecting and which they promised them in the course of the electioneering campaigns that heralded the 2015 General Elections

1.     Corruption must be KILLED.

         a.     There shall be no more sacrificing merit for mediocrity on the altar of federal character (because that is the bedrock of corruption in the Civil Service)

        b.     The clauses on Religion, State of Origin and LGA of Origin MUST be completely abolished from the extant forms which Nigerians fill while seeking for employment or contract awards

       c.     The processes for allocation of oil blocks MUST be OPEN and TRANSPARENT

     d.     The number of exotic and assorted cars/vehicles in the Presidential land fleet must be drastically cut down to 10 so that the amount of money being spent on fueling them would also cut down and all those drivers that have been claiming allowances for no jobs down and have been colluding with Fuel attendants to return receipts for no fuel bought would be finally nailed

     e.     The number of jets in the Presidential Air Fleet should be reduced to 2 so that the volume of aviation fuel consumed by these heaven on earth jets can be left for the operators of airlines in the aviation sector

     f.     Ministries serving same purposes should be merged and redundant parastatals scrapped (creating job for the boys is the biggest corruption scam in this Country)

     g.     No Minister of the Federal Republic should have more than 3 cars in his official fleet

     h.     The number of Special Assistants, Special Advisers and all those redundant offices created to appease supporters of the Government should be cut down drastically

     i.     No Minister should have more than 3 Personal Aides

     j.     The process of contract sourcing must be OPEN and TRANSPARENT - the Federal Tenders Board must be made to sit up

     k.     The process of Employment into the Federal Civil Service must be OPEN and TRANSPARENT. The era when jobs are advertised for the sake of fulfilling all righteousness should be over. The Federal Civil Service Commission should be made accountable for job scams and scandals in the Federal Civil Service

2.        UNEMPLOYMENT must be a thing of the past.
In the course of their campaign Buhari and APC promised to create 3 million jobs every year. That job creation process must start on the 29th of May 2015.  An UNEMPLOYMENT BUREAU should be set up to take the statistic of all unemployed Nigerians of various categories and follow them up with finding employment for them.

3.     UNEMPLOYMENT STIPEND:
The APC promised to pay N5000.00 monthly to all unemployed Nigerians as soon as they take over the Governance of the Country. Now the opportunity has come and unemployed Nigerians of which more than 22 million are youths are waiting for the commencement of the payment.

That the economy is in "shambles" as recently being claimed by the APC mouth organs is no excuse to fail on this promise

4.     The ECONOMY
The APC promised to stabilize the oil market so that Nigeria's oil would bring in the maximum dividend for its worth; well then here you are. Go out now and do that

The APC and Buhari also promised to stabilize the foreign exchange market so that the Naira can equal the Dollar in value. I and many Nigerians are looking forward to the day when One Naira would be equal to One Dollar and we do hope it won't take long to come

The APC and Buhari promised to diversify the economy so that we are no longer going to be extremely dependent on oil; there you are, I and many Nigerians can't wait to see the Groundnut pyramids come back to the North, the Cocoa seeds and products back to the West and the Palm Fruits and oil back to the East. The revival of the cotton mills should also be in the agenda

We cannot also wait to see the implementation of true fiscal federalism where each State/Region shall be responsible for its mineral/natural resources

5.     SECURITY
Though the Boko Haram group has received severe bashing in the last six weeks but there are still pockets of resistance here and there in the North East. So the APC and Buhari would have no difficulty then in finally nailing the coffin of BH in Nigeria and also check mating the resurrection of any of such terrorists in Nigeria again

The scourge of armed robbery/kidnapping should also be checked so that innocent citizens can be free to go about their businesses without fear of molestation or even being killed

The Fulani Herdsmen should be reigned in now by the APC since they have taken over the Federal Government

6.     EDUCATION
The proper feeding of School children as promised by the APC should begin as soon as June 1 2015. It would be the pleasure of Nigerians to see School Children all well fed and dressed up and thus measuring up to their mates in other climes

Bringing back the glory of our Universities would also be part of the agenda I suppose. No more quota Professors or handout-clutching Lecturers that harass their students, no more sorting of Lecturers to pass exams and no more First Class by quota

7.     HEALTH
Hopefully our Teaching Hospitals would no more be "mere consulting clinics" and all our Tertiary health Institutions would become Centres of Excellence in Health care delivery and management

It is our hope that by the time this administration has spent 100 days in office, Nigerians would begin to see tangible chanji in their affairs.

No excuses are tenable enough at this stage

All we want is ACTION
