This November - Step Up Your Game

Hello Friends,

Certainly November is not just here, it is already on its journey out.

It is the 4th day of November 2015 and in 26 days time, it will be gone.

26 days are not in the realm of eternity but a lot could still happen in the remaining days of November.

But that is completely dependent on what you are doing with your time.

What are you engaged in doing?

A Civil Servant (8am to 4pm)

A Public Servant (8am to 6pm)

A Retiree?

A Pensioner?

A Stay-at-home Mum?

A Stay-at-home Dad?

What do you find your hands doing when you are not sleeping?

This November, step up that your game.

This is the 2nd to the last month of the year and money has to be made because December is literally the month of expenditure. So if the money to be spent in December is not made in November, it would not augur well for the festivities.

Have you been earning One kobo all through this year, this November, strive to earn One hundred kobo and there are loads of ways to increase earning whether or not we are employed or unemployed.

Are you employed like I stated above, this November, to step up your game, take out a Plan B action of income stream. If you don't know how to do that, ASK me (that is why I am here for you)

Are you unemployed but employable?, this November, to step up your game, EMPLOY yourself. There are hundreds of ways available now (thank God for the internet) that any young and energetic person can employ him or herself. If you don't know, ASK me. I shall guide you to the genuine sources

Are you unemployed and unemployable?, this November, to step up your game, LEARN a trade or ACQUIRE a skill.

No skill or talent is to be wasted, hone them this November and make a difference in your liquidity value.

And as you do that, I certainly would be expecting you right where you ought to belong - guess where?

Stop Waiting For Government

 On one good day on the 14th of January 1970, the Nigeria - Biafra war came to a physical end (even though the psychological and spiritual wars have been on since then). The man who was presiding over the affairs of Nigeria then - Gowon declared it a "No Victor, no vanquished" war but we all know that it was physically mouthed but ----

Most of the landscapes of Eastern Nigeria were destroyed, her infrastructure especially Schools were leveled to the ground from the actions of the fighter planes used by the other side.

Even though the then Federal Government declared a state of Reconstruction, Rehabilitation and Re-integration of the East to the other parts of Nigeria, but again it was obvious that if it was not Gowon putting on his work clothes to ensure that those three legs were adequately implemented, no one else was willing to do anything about them.

After waiting for a while and with no help or assistance coming from the Federal Government to rehabilitate her battered infrastructure, the people of the South East introduced the Community Self Help Efforts to build for themselves that which the Government failed to build for them and so was born the "Project Launchings" that doted the landscape then and which was a common place thing during festivities especially Christmas in the South East.

Most funds raised from those launchings were used to rehabilitate debilitated Schools or Hospitals or Health Clinics and Centres or used to build Community Halls.

Some were used to even repair damaged roads.

The people of the South East knew that if they waited for the Federal Government of Nigeria to come and rebuild those infrastructure for them, they would be like "waiting for godot"

Those were the good old years of 70s and 80s and even early 90s

Prepare For November - Are You Ready

Just some days ago Buahri stated that "Nigeria is BROKE".

Earlier before that declaration, Osibanjo had stated that "We will not devalue the Naira"; in the same vein Emefiele also said "We are not devaluing the Naira but ..."

These are statements that are pointing to the fact that ALL IS NOT WELL WITH THE NIGERIAN ECONOMY.

And how can all be well with the economy that has over the past 50 years been heavily and majorly dependent on oil? and at the present times, even Countries that are not expected to have oil announcing that they have also found oil at their back yards, making that resource more abundant than ever, and even Countries that used to be at the beck and call of Nigeria's oil are now doing "shakara" and even asking to buy the oil at $20 per barrel?

America is going "oil-less" with extensive research going into finding and exploiting alternative sources of fuel in place of oil.

You need to know that:

*        The Naira is severely under pressure not to hit the N300 per dollar mark

*        About 2 million Ex-Corpers have been added to the labour market, thus increasing the percentage of the unemployed to more than 35%

*        Oil prices have slid to close to $40 per barrel, shattering all the bench marks set for the 2015 budget and even threatening the 2016 budget that is yet to be prepared

*        Inflation has hit a 2-digit all time high of 13%

*        The percentage of Nigerians living below the poverty line has greatly increased to more than 70%

*        There have been massive retrenchments in the Oil and Gas, Banking, Manufacturing and Industrial, Telecom and hospitality Sectors, thus overburdening the already burdened unemployment market

*        In the past 2 quarters, there have been no growth in our economic indices and the Government has even drastically reduced its own economic growth projection from 7.5% to 2.5%

So, November is certainly not going to be easy at all, and the time to prepare for it is NOW - infact Today.

Inspite of these bad news, there is still a piece of good news

Remember the saying that when the going gets tough, the tough gets going?

Well then, this is the time to be the tough and keep going

It's November, the eleventh month of the year 2015

It has pleased God to bring us into it and for that there is a purpose

In it, He shall

provide for us

sustain us by His Mighty Right Hand

protect us with His Wings

defend us with His Shield

enable us to be that He wants us to be

awaken our cold spirits to His Service

love us like never before

This November, God shall uplift us beyond our expectations

He shall turn His Face to us and brighten our days

He shall not let the sun to smite us in the day time nor the moon in the night

And He shall not let our feet to hit upon any stone

It surely shall be a very joyful, purposeful and fulfilling month

The Time For Change Is Now!!!

“We cannot gloss over facts and expect problems to solve themselves.” –Ahmadu Bello.

The fact staring us in the face in this country is that a large percentage of our citizens are unemployed and looking for non-existent jobs.

Another sad fact staring us in the face is that no nation can rise to economic greatness where able bodied citizens are idle and doing nothing.

And the saddest of all the facts is that we will never get out of this mess with how the system works.

We have a system that churn out graduates who don’t know jack about starting a business or creating value.

They come out brandishing a piece of paper called a certificate expecting a job from the government and everyone.

They have this attitude of “expectational arrogance”. They are graduates, they have finished their NYSC, and so somebody must owe them a job.

How sad.

How very sad indeed.

Most Nigerians never think of creating a job and employing others.

They don’t believe in further training or acquiring a new skill that will help them start out on their own.

For them once they are done with formal schooling they deserve a job.

Well, maybe they do deserve a job, but the best way to get a job in Nigeria is to create one.

Even those doing some sort of business are never satisfied until they get a “job”.

I met a cab driver in Abuja who makes more money than a bank teller monthly but he was still begging for a job.

As far as he is concerned he must wake up every morning and go to a place called a “job” before he is satisfied.

This is our general attitude with just a few exceptions.

Granted that our educational system doesn’t prepare us to be entrepreneurs, but once we are out of school we ought to take responsibility for our thoughts and our actions.

The system prepares you to be broke but your attitude will keep you broke.

Take charge of your attitude.

Attend a training, hone your talents, acquire a skill, get business mentoring and start out on your own.

It is really sad to see Nigerians work for years in a bank without learning how to start and run a bank, this also goes for those working in hotels, schools, NGOs, etc. what matters to them is to take peanuts home every month.

While I was working as the Programs Manager of a top NGO in Nigeria I noticed that my secretary never bothered understanding all the concept notes and proposals I was giving her to type, she didn’t bother to inquire how we raised money and engaged our donors, she didn’t bother to know how we executed and evaluated projects.

When I asked her why, she said it didn’t occur to her. But she didn’t change.

One day when I couldn’t take it any longer I fired her. I don’t like such folks around me, they poison my work atmosphere.

One of the best ways to measure this attitude of Nigerians is on social media, especially Facebook.

You can try it. Write anything about business or a business training, you will get no comments, no questions and just a couple of “likes”.

Nigerian youths hardly engage you on any post that has to do with entrepreneurship.

They don’t want to create value, they don’t want to learn anything about starting a business.

They want someone to give them a job, job, job, job…

Do another test. Just post about a job opening anywhere even in a Filling Station and see the number of comments and inbox messages you will get.

Infact the easiest way to scam a Nigerian is to tell him about a job offer.

Nigerians spend more money in bribes trying to get a job than they spend in acquiring skills and knowledge needed to start and run a profitable business.

You will see 1 million Nigerians applying for just 10 spots in a company and it beats me hollow to imagine that none of those Nigerians are thinking about starting a company like the one they are applying to.

Rather they will give you a thousand reasons why they can’t do it, forgetting that the company they are applying to succeeded inspite of those reasons.

Nigerians also love fast money.

I also like to make fast money but it’s just that most avenues promoted online for this fast money making are fake.

Have you seen this craze about “click on this link, register and share with your friends and make $100 daily for doing nothing! Click now”?

And you will see graduates clicking and sharing it on their wall.

If you share a link about a training or a course on how to acquire a skill to start a business those same folks will not click it.

Nigerians also love magic and miracles.

Just post a picture of a top man of God like Enoch Adeboye or David Oyedepo and write a short post like this: “I declare that all the witches in your village preventing you from getting a job will die by fire before Monday next week. Click ‘Like’ and type ‘Amen’ to claim it!”

I bet you my laptop you will get nothing less than 1000 ‘likes’ and comments.

But if you write an article about business, my brother nobody go answer you o.

They want magic not education.

Personally I’m still looking for that Bible verse that say you must type ‘Amen’ on a Facebook post to get a job or be blessed.

I call on all young Nigerians to break this jinx upon our generation, this jinx placed on us by culture and our educational system.

Let’s break this vicious circle of poverty.

Let’s change our attitude and watch our lives change.

Change your perspective, be open to new knowledge and insights, attend trainings, get a mentor, and transform your talents and skills into businesses.

Let’s change our story and that of Nigeria and Africa.

The future depends on you.

The Power Of Our Mental Attitude

Complaining.

Complaining.

Complaining.

Earlier this morning, I was at the gym and I overheard a

conversation.

A negative conversation.

From gas prices to layoffs, this person was complaining about

everything.

Blah, blah, blah, this person DEFEATED HIMSELF.

The economy didn’t defeat him, his boss didn’t defeat him, he

DEFEATED HIMSELF.

That’s the power of our MENTAL ATTITUDE.

It can cause us to WIN, to TRIUMPH, or to defeat ourselves.

This is very important.

It’s so easy to look to the left or look to the right and

find somebody complaining about something.

It’s so easy to join in. Misery loves company.

Don’t do it.

Don’t.

YOU weren’t born to complain. YOU my friend were born to WIN.

We make our own economy.

Work on yourself. Become valuable to others.

Become ATTRACTIVE to others.

Become a problem solver to others.

Don’t pass on a complaining, victim driven attitude to your

kids.

Pass on the SPIRIT of a HERO. A winner.

Don’t take two steps today. Take one.

Move forward 1%. Yes, just 1%.

Start speaking TRIUMPH over your life.

Say:

I am VALUABLE.

People are drawn to me.

I am TALENTED.

I like people and people like me.

Amigo, start going the extra mile for others.

Watch what happens.

Get clear on what you want.

If you’re at a job right now and you want to leave it.

Find out how much money you need to make consistently each

month to leave that job and make that your goal.

Don’t make $1,000,000 your goal. Make it your goal for your

business to pay your monthly expenses plus.

Get started. Don’t join the ‘complaining party’

That party will always be there. You’re ABOVE IT.

The world is waiting to EXPERIENCE your gifts, talents, and

abilities.

The Seed

A successful business man was growing old and

knew it was time to choose a successor to take over the business.. 

Instead of choosing one of his Directors or his children,

he decided to do something different. He called all the young

executives in his company together.

He said, "It is time for me to step down and choose the next CEO.

I have decided to choose one of you.. "The young executives were

Shocked, but the boss continued. "I am going to give each one

of you a SEED today - one very special SEED... I want you to plant

the seed, water it, and come back here one year from today with

what you have grown from the seed I have given you. I will then

judge the plants that you bring, and the one I choose will be

the next CEO."

One man, named Jim, was there that day and he, like the others,

received a seed. He went home and excitedly, told his wife the

story. She helped him get a pot, soil and compost and he planted

the seed. Everyday, he would water it and watch to see if it had

grown. After about three weeks, some of the other executives began

to talk about their seeds and the plants that were beginning to grow. 

Jim kept checking his seed, but nothing ever grew. 

Three weeks, four weeks, five weeks went by, still nothing. 

By now, others were talking about their plants, but Jim didn't have

a plant and he felt like a failure.

Six months went by -- still nothing in Jim's pot. He just knew he

had killed his seed. Everyone else had trees and tall plants, but

he had nothing. Jim didn't say anything to his colleagues, however.

He just kept watering and fertilizing the soil - He so wanted the

seed to grow.

A year finally went by and all the young executives of the company

brought their plants to the CEO for inspection.

Jim told his wife that he wasn't going to take an empty pot.

But she asked him to be honest about what happened. Jim felt sick

to his stomach, it was going to be the most embarrassing moment

of his life, but he knew his wife was right. He took his empty pot

to the board room. When Jim arrived, he was amazed at the variety

of plants grown by the other executives. They were beautiful --

in all shapes and sizes. Jim put his empty pot on the floor and

many of his colleagues laughed, a few felt sorry for him!

When the CEO arrived, he surveyed the room and greeted his young

executives.

Jim just tried to hide in the back. "My, what great plants, trees,

and flowers you have grown," said the CEO. "Today one of you will

be appointed the next CEO!"

All of a sudden, the CEO spotted Jim at the back of the room with

his empty pot. He ordered the Financial Director to bring him to

the front. Jim was terrified. He thought, "The CEO knows I'm a

failure! Maybe he will have me fired!" 

When Jim got to the front, the CEO asked him what had happened

to his seed - Jim told him the story. 

The CEO asked everyone to sit down except Jim. He looked at Jim,

and then announced to the young executives, "Behold your next

Chief Executive Officer! 

His name is Jim!" Jim couldn't believe it. Jim couldn't even grow

his seed.

"How could he be the new CEO?" the others said.

Then the CEO said, "One year ago today, I gave everyone in this

room a seed. I told you to take the seed, plant it, water it,

and bring it back to me today. But I gave you all boiled seeds;

they were dead - it was not possible for them to grow.

All of you, except Jim, have brought me trees and plants and

flowers. When you found that the seed would not grow, you

substituted another seed for the one I gave you. Jim was the

only one with the courage and honesty to bring me a pot with

my seed in it. Therefore, he is the one who will be the new

Chief Executive Officer!"

* If you plant honesty, you will reap trust 

* If you plant goodness, you will reap friends

* If you plant humility, you will reap greatness

* If you plant perseverance, you will reap contentment

* If you plant consideration, you will reap perspective

* If you plant hard work, you will reap success

* If you plant forgiveness, you will reap reconciliation

* If you plant faith in God , you will reap a harvest

So, be careful what you plant now;

it will determine what you will reap later.
